Violence: In-person violence is a huge trigger for her, so plotting is a must.
Relationships: Friendships! Annie needs friends, badly. Shipping? Only Finnick.

Psychic Info: Annie has no psychic abilities, but she has unmedicated CPTSD and Anxiety that can result in stress hallucinations. Her mind isn't a fun place, and she will react badly if she finds out anyone's been looking in her brain.
Magical Info: Annie is a baseline standard human with no magic.
Physiological/Medical Info: Along with the CPTSD and Anxiety, her Games triggered her first mental breakdown and she has ongoing damage to her joints from treading water for a full day. She's otherwise a fit and athletic person in her early/mid-twenties. All scars are less than five years old, and are the little knicks and burns one gets through living.

Offensive Subjects & Triggers Associated with This Character: Harm to children, child murder, child soldiers(/gladiators), totalitarianism/fascism, living in a surveillance state, death of loved ones, harm to loved ones, mental health issues.

Appearance: A small young woman with long, wavy/curly red hair, sea-green eyes, and a face more interesting than classically pretty.
As of April '26, Annie's hair is always moving slightly, as if it's underwater and reacting to the slightest movement.

Annie Cresta was born and raised in District Four, Panem, a far future, post-apocalyptic version of North America. As District Four is the fishing district, and Annie is canonically an amazing swimmer, her fishery was presumably a sea-based one and she grew up swimming and sailing and fishing. At the age of eighteen, Annie became the female tribute for the 70th Hunger Games, an annual child gladiatorial contest devised by the ruling Capitol as punishment for a past rebellion. While training children before the games is highly illegal, Districts One, Two, and Four are all widely known to do it, so it is likely that Annie had at least some Career training. But because she's not formally described as a Career, and not used for any of the revolution war propaganda beyond her wedding, canonically there seems to be some ambiguity as to her status. For RP-purposes, I have as Annie's background that she's a former Career who never completed her training due to a combination of her adult height being too short for her physical ability to counter, and her increasing inability to show a willingness to hurt and kill. However, she was Reaped anyway, and no one volunteered for her.

During her games, Annie teamed up with her district partner and presumably the other Career tributes from Districts One and Two as Careers are trained to operate as a pack with the others. When her district partner was beheaded in front of her, the trauma caused her to have a mental breakdown. She ran away, and spent the rest of her games hiding. Despite this, she won. She retained (or quickly regained) enough of a survival instinct and situational awareness to hide, and stay alive until an earthquake broke the arena's dam, flooding the arena. She kept swimming and treading water until everyone else drowned.

Unlike other victors, Annie was allowed – or ordered – to stay at home at the District Four victors' village every year, instead of going to the Capitol and mentoring. According to public opinion, she was 'the poor, mad girl', and as such completely useless to sell the idea of victors being a glamorous, noble thing. Over the next five years, she lived as quietly as she could. She also became lovers with one of her fellow victors, Finnick Odair, although this had to be kept a deadly secret. Finnick not only was being used by the Capitol to sell the games, he was also forced to live as playboy to cover the fact that he was being forced into prostitution with the Capitol's elite – a mad girlfriend back home had no place in that image. Instead, Annie became a hostage to his obedience.

The uneasy status quo was maintained until the 74th Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen’s defiance gave spark to the simmering anger in Panem, and rebellion caught fire. The Capitol started retaliating: District Four rose up in an uprising during late winter. Its citizens were barred from work and the major city bombed into submission while Annie and the other victors could do nothing. Then came the 75th Hunger Games. A Quarter Quell, those games were always different: this time, the tributes came from the pool of surviving Victors. Annie was once again Reaped, only Mags - the matriarch of the District Four and Finnick's foster-mother - volunteered to take her place. But when Finnick was Reaped next, no one volunteered for him. All Annie could do was watch as the two people she loved most in the world tried to survive.

But events soon spiralled out beyond her worst fears. First, the elderly Mags sacrificed herself so Finnick could escape with his allies. And soon after, a trick in the arena involving mimicry and her own voice screaming for help revealed to the entire country just how Finnick really felt about her. It’s a few hours after this that Annie will enter the game.

Eventually Annie was rescued, along with Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason, and was dramatically reunited with Finnick in District 13. Soon afterwards, the leaders of the revolution decided her and Finnick’s wedding would be the perfect propaganda coup, and the woman who’d been the secret hostage to her partner’s obedience had a giant wedding, hosted by the revolution and televised nationally. It’s soon after this that Annie will enter the game.

Defining Marks: No scars of any kind. Eyes are large and very distinctive.

Accent/Speech: Quiet, with Texan-Mexican accent that she deliberately softens.
Bearing/Demeanor: Shy, nervous. Annie tries to stay unobtrusive, tends to curl in on herself in social situations, and has a number of nervous tics (fidgeting fingers, a nervous smile, an odd laugh). Description: A one storey, U-shaped ranch house set around a large courtyard, this house is encircled by an open, arched porch and has stucco exterior walls. Double doors open to a spacious slope-ceilinged entry/art gallery: walking through leads one into the open living/sitting room, walking left leads to the study, two bedrooms, bathroom, and the master bedroom with its own sitting space and en-suite. Walking right leads to the dining room, then through to the kitchen, laundry and a garage-turned-glassmaking studio with its own entrance. The courtyard is accessible by all areas of the house, and features a covered arbour between the master bedroom and the studio.

The furniture is elegant, as benefiting a pair of Victors, with rope decorations and an ocean theme. There are fairylights wrapped around the arbour, courtyard, and parts of the porch. A lot of the lights, both interior and exterior, are set into the ceiling to look like stars.
